Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
Because the music of the 80s was a special time. Much like the music of the 50s had great influence on people like Morrissey and TV shows like Twin Peaks, our generation looks to the 80s for that special spark of magical inspiration.

I really wanted to make a nice disco track that reminded people of something they used to hear when they were a child.

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
Michael Jackson is magic. Every time he breathes into the microphone it sounds like fireworks. We were hoping that by partaking in one of his songs we might absorb at least some degree of his funkiness.

Nostalgia or tribute?
The B: A bit of nostalgia, the important memories from a semi-perfect infancy. And respect to The Manouvers. Ela: Yeah, both. In part I wished I was born in the 70's so that I could've listened to it when it was brand new.

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
We chose Buddy Holly because this song reminds us both of our introduction to computers. When we were both young, 7 or 8, our parents both got the family their first PC with Windows 95. And low and behold, this awesome video clip of footage from Happy Days came with the OS.

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
I love "Streets Of Bakersfield", its one of those songs where the listener knows something that the narrator doesn't. But then again you don't realize that till you've listened to the song a few times, so its fun a lot of levels. Plus it sounds good coming out of a roadhouse jukebox.

Nostalgia or tribute?
I remember when i first heard it...i think it was 1984 and i was driving by my college listening to the college radio station, when i heard "R.A.T.F." by the Smiths...i think i was stoned, and i was struck at the sheer honesty and no bullshit nature of the singer and the pure poetry of the lyrics and the beauty of the chimey clean guitars

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
I had been thinking of possible covers to perform live and thought this one would suit the show perfectly. Sara Berg is a true diva - we both love this track and when I told her what I was planning to do she was excited at the chance to cover Kate.

Probably more of a tribute. I do realize that Blondie is a band, but I love Debbie Harry, and if I were in a room with her, I probably would have to consciously try not to stare. I hate to be immediately superficial, but she's the most beautiful woman ever.

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
The song came to mind instantly when choosing a cover song, because the original doesn't sound anything like us, and we wanted to see how it would sound with an electronic feel and a female singer.

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
Shirley: It was a time when good music was played on the radio and songs with a dark edge could still be Billboard hits.
Anastasia: I agree, I think a lot of the music that came from the late 70s through the early 80s were probably most particularly influential to all of us.

Why have you chosen this journey back in time in particular?
I was born in the 80's and it always reminds me of a simpler time. I don't know whether this is true or not but I don't feel like I'm alone in that sentiment. Sometimes people over think music nowadays, and we all need to remember that some of the most brilliant songs are deceptively simple.

I grew up in the 80's discos. I was always up at the front dancing to this song in a world of my own. Of course that meant that the boys would never ask me to dance. So my version of this song is for all you weird and unapproachable dancers out there .. keep dancing ..

Music was actually never a big part of my household growing up - my parents don't play instruments and they only had a small vinyl collection. As a result I found most music on my own (who knows how) and even at a young age (9 or 10) I remember asking for tapes for birthdays or Christmas from artists like Miles Davis or Hall & Oates. Speaking of Christmas, how much did I love listening to (as most kids did) "Christmas With The Chipmunks" around the holidays!
